Following her successful afternoon in front of goal against Hull City, Burnley Women striker Claudia Walker says she is ‘raring to go’ ahead of Sunday’s game against Stourbridge.
One of Head Coach Rebecca Sawiuk’s 12 new additions in the summer, Walker scored and provided two assists as Burnley put the Tigresses to the sword in a 9-0 victory last weekend.
“It was great to get out there and I couldn’t have asked for a better start really!” she said.
“We had a long wait to pull on the shirt competitively for the first time so, off the back of last weekend, we’re all very much raring to go for this one.
“We’d like to put in an even better performance and keep our standards high."

Any striker will tell you the importance of getting off the mark for a new club as soon as possible and Walker, who has previous experience in the Women’s Super League and Championship, managed to do so after just 16 minutes in Nelson.
“When I first got the ball I looked to shoot but the route to goal was blocked,” she explained.
“Chaz (Charley Docherty) was in a better position so I passed it to her and she chopped it back when she could have taken a shot.
“It went through a few bodies and took a bit of a deflection but I’m buzzing it went in and I was happy to get on the scoresheet.”
Walker is originally from Tamworth and with Sunday’s opponents Stourbridge being not too far away, she’s likely to be backed by some familiar faces on the day.
“I’ve been trying to rally up my friends and family because it’s a little bit closer to home for me," she said.
“It’s early in the season but with our big result Stourbridge will probably be looking to bring us back down a peg and they’ll be a tough opponent.
“We’ve got to be ready and make sure that we’re focused on ourselves. That’s the key thing this season - being the best that we can be.
“The performances are the most important thing and if we keep producing good ones, I’m confident that results will continue to come.
“Wins keep everyone happy and that will continue to build confidence, which is always a good thing.”
