Full back reminisces about Brazil’s glory days ahead of 2022 tournament

Vitinho will be cheering on Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar this year, and hopes his nation can replicate their previous successes on the grandest stage of them all.

Born in Belo Horizonte, the full-back has represented his country at U20 level, and was named in a preliminary squad at senior level for the World Cup in 2018.

And ahead of the tournament start on Sunday, where the ‘Seleção Canarinha’ will bid for their sixth lift of the Jules Rimet Trophy, the 23-year-old spoke to the Club’s media about his World Cup memories.

Vitinho on Brazil’s last World Cup win:

“The first one (tournament) I can remember is actually when Brazil won it in 2002! I was just a little boy then, but I really hope we can win it again now.”

Vitinho on this year’s tournament:

“I’m going to be back with my family and friends [in Brazil] watching it. The people just love football in Brazil, and we all want to win the World Cup [again]!”

Vitinho on whether Brazil can win it in 2022:

“Yes, of course we can! Come on Brazil!”
