Burnley Football Club can confirm that Jon Ander Vilar Robinson has signed a one-year professional contract running until the summer of 2025.
Having completed his two-year scholarship, Vilar Robinson will now permanently step up into Andy Farrell’s U21s group.
The 18-year-old has been with Burnley since he was 13 and was in and around Tony Philliskirk’s U18s squad when he was 16 years of age.
He is eligible to represent both Spain and England at international level and had his first loan spell away from the Club in 2023/24, spending time at Clitheroe FC.
Towards the end of 2023/24, Vilar Robinson was afforded opportunities to join the U21s’ matchday squads.
Having signed his new terms, the goalkeeper said: “I’m really happy and excited.
“It means a lot to me and my family, especially my dad who’s rushed me to training since I was five or six. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
“Because I’ve been here for many years now I’m close with all the staff, particularly Connor King (Head of Academy Goalkeeping). I owe a lot to him and Gage Walsh (former Goalkeeping Coach).
“Towards the end of the season I was able to start building relationships with the U21s, so hopefully I can get as many games under my belt as possible.”
Academy Manager David Longwell added: “I’m delighted that Jon has signed on as part of the U21s squad.
“He showed a positive progression last season and I look forward to seeing him continue to improve in 2024/25.”
