Burnley Football Club has added to its U21s ranks ahead of the 2024/25 season with the signing of midfielder Charlie Veevers.
The 19-year-old moves to Lancashire after two years in South Wales with Swansea City, having spent the previous decade of his childhood with Manchester United.
Veevers, who is comfortable in any central midfield role, featured against Burnley in the Professional Development League back in April.
The teenager penned a scholarship agreement with the Swans in the summer of 2022, spending a year with the U18s before signing his first professional contract last summer.
This isn’t the first time that Veevers has been involved with the Club, having spent time in the Clarets’ Pre-Academy.
He will now continue his development under manager Andy Farrell and his staff having accepted a one-year deal until the summer of 2025, with the Club having the option to extend it by a year.
Speaking about the news, he said: “I’m buzzing; it’s a good new opportunity for me and pre-season has started well.
“Burnley is a great club with a good environment and pathway and having played against the U21s last season I think I fit the style of play well.
“I like to try and control the play and be creative. Hopefully I can start sharp, develop on and off the pitch and help the team as much as I can.”
Academy Manager David Longwell added: “Charlie is a player we have liked for a long time.
“He has had a good upbringing in the game from his time at Manchester United and that shows in his play, with a good technical grounding.
“We were looking for a player of Charlie’s profile, which includes good speed, so are delighted to have him on board.”
