Burnley U21s are back in action on Monday afternoon, taking on Crewe Alexandra at their Mornflake Stadium in the Professional Development League.
It’s a quick turnaround for Andy Farrell’s team following Friday’s emphatic 4-0 victory at Coventry City.
The Clarets made a blistering start at the Alan Higgs Centre, scoring three first-half goals via Renaldo Torraj, Joe Bevan and Tom Tweedy.
Youngster Vernon Masara rounded off the scoring after the interval to ensure they bounced back from the previous week’s defeat to Hull City in style.
Burnley now sit 6th in the table with 28 points from 17 matches. Importantly, the teams above them have played up to six games more.
Monday’s opponents Crewe are bottom of the 12-team standings having taken 12 points from 18 outings.
They do, however, come into the fixture on the back of a victory having beaten Peterborough United 4-3 in an entertaining affair.
Prior to that they’d gone 10 league games without a win, so Burnley will be hoping to earn a valuable three points.
Kick-off in Cheshire is 1pm, and you can follow live updates on X @ClaretsAcademy. A match report will follow on www.burnleyfootballclub.com.
