Charlie Taylor says Burnley's win over Brentford on Saturday afternoon is going to give the side further fight ahead of the remaining nine games of the season.
The defender was delighted to secure the victory, which he said on another day could have seen a bigger score line.
“It’s a good win, a much-needed win. It got a bit nervy towards the end. We probably on another day could have been three or four up and have it a lot more comfortable than what it was. But it’s three points at the end of the day and three huge points. We’re still in there and we’re still fighting.”
The nervy end saw a late disallowed Brentford goal and early on in the game there was plenty of drama with a Jacob Bruun Larsen penalty and a red card for the visitors.
“We started well. Sometimes, it sounds silly, but sometimes it is quite hard to play against ten men, your mindset changes and your game plan changes. But I thought there were times where we could have been better. We could have been out of sight, it could have been three or four, it could have been a different score line on a different day. But at the end of the day, it’s three points and three massive points.”

A keeper change for the Clarets saw Arijanet Muric make his Premier League debut and Taylor thought his teammate put on a fantastic performance.
“Aro was brilliant today, we all know what he is he’s a top, top keeper. He’s obviously had to bide his time and look Traff’s played this season and played well. Aro’s come in today and he was huge for us, full credit to him and I think everyone’s pleased for him.”
Burnley have struggled for wins at home this season and the left back was pleased the team could give the home crowd the victory.
“Yeah, look they’ve not had much to cheer about this year but we are trying, we’re doing our best honestly every day on the training ground we work so hard, staff, players, everyone. It’s maybe not shown in the games as much as we’d like but we are still trying, we’re still fighting, we’re giving everything. We’re still in this and I’m sure everyone at the club believes. It was great that the fans were with us today.”
With nine games to go, will the three points give the squad a boost in the fight for survival?
“Yes definitely. Nine games left, nine huge games. We’ve got a lot of games still left to play at Turf Moor and if the crowd can get behind us and we can show what we can do.

“We obviously need some wins, and everyone knows that. We’re not daft but everyone still believes, and we’ll keep fighting.”
The game was the last before the international break, does Taylor think the win came at a good time as they can head into the break feeling positive and come back refreshed?
“Definitely. No game for two weeks now, it’s sort of in the back of your mind that look we’ve got three points, we can, not enjoy it but it sort of makes the next two weeks on the training ground a bit better. It boosts confidence.
“A win does everything and it’s not easy in this league. I’ve been down the bottom a long time in my career now and it’s not nice being at the bottom, but three points is huge. Any time you get a win in this league you need to celebrate.”
