Burnley U21s will aim to make it four Premier League Cup wins from four when Luton Town visit the County Ground in Leyland (PR25 2LF) on Friday night.
Victory would all but guarantee Andy Farrell’s team’s progression to the knockout stages, barring a significant swing in goal difference.
The young Clarets have enjoyed their time in the competition this season, scoring nine times and conceding just twice in their three Group G matches.
Their last Premier League Cup match was against Reading earlier this month, where a 3-1 scoreline secured all three points at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Farrell’s side have been in fine form in the last couple of months but are keen to bounce back following the end of their nine-match winning run on Monday.
Sheffield Wednesday were the team to end that impressive feat, with Devlan Moses’ double and Rio Shipston’s strike enough to cancel out goals from Tommy McDermott and Joe Westley.
Luton are 3rd in Group G with six points from their three outings to date.
The Clarets won convincingly when these two teams met at Kenilworth Road back in October, thanks in part to Joe Westley’s brace.
Kamarni Ryan and Joe Bauress were also on target that night, and Claude Kayibanda’s consolation goal in second-half stoppage-time wasn’t enough to take the gloss off a 4-1 victory.
Managed by Alex Lawless, the Hatters’ last action was a behind-closed-doors friendly against Peterborough United in which they were beaten 4-2.
Supporters are welcome to attend the game, with Burnley season ticket holders able to gain free access by presenting their card at the turnstiles.
Other adults are priced at £5 and concessions are £2.
