In-form Burnley U21s return to the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, with Carlisle United the visitors in the Central League Cup.
The young Clarets are aiming for a seventh straight victory and a third consecutive clean sheet when the Cumbrians visit Burnley Training Centre.
By the time kick-off rolls around it will have been just shy of a week since Andy Farrell’s team’s last outing, in which they beat Coventry City 5-0 at Turf Moor.
Joe Westley’s brace got things going in BB10 before second-half strikes from Tom Tweedy, Alex Healy-Byrne and Enock Agyei put the cherry on top of a comfortable evening result wise.
This is the team’s first Central League Cup match of the season, and with Carlisle we have been drawn in Group A alongside AFC Barrow, Blackburn Rovers and Morecambe.
Farrell and his players are keen to defend their trophy, having beaten PL2 side Derby County in a thrilling final at Pride Park to win the competition in 2023/24
Carlisle United field their Reserves team in the tournament and started their campaign with a heavy defeat to Blackburn in September.
They were on the wrong side of a 5-0 scoreline that day, although Rovers did field several players with significant experience at Sky Bet Championship level.
Managed by Steven Rudd, Carlisle will be hoping to get back on track on Tuesday afternoon.
Supporters can attend the fixture, which kicks off at 1pm.
