Burnley U21s will be aiming to win the 2023/24 Lancashire FA Senior Cup when they take on Barrow AFC on Tuesday afternoon.
The final was carried over from the end of last season and Andy Farrell’s team are defending their title, heaving beaten the same opponents to win the 2022/23 competition.
A penalty shootout was needed to separate the two teams that day, and Joe Ashton’s spot-kick was the decisive one at the County Ground in Leyland.
The young Clarets’ 2023/24 journey started with a 3-1 win over Liverpool, in which Han-Noah Massengo netted a brace. After Lewis Koumas pulled one back for the Reds, Joe Westley secured the win just after the hour.
Then came a comprehensive win over Everton in January of this year, and it was Lewis Richardson and Mikey O’Neill who were both at the double.
A 16-year-old Vernon Masara earnt our place in the final, scoring the only goal in March’s victory over Accrington Stanley at WHAM Stadium.
Farrell’s side come into this match buoyed by a terrific performance on Friday night that saw them record a third 5-0 victory of the season against Luton Town in the Premier League Cup.
First-half goals from Tommy McDermott, Logan Pye, Tom Tweedy and Kamarni Ryan were added to by Brandon Ly five minutes from time on a brisk night.

Barrow have played one games less on their route to the final after receiving a bye in the first round.
Then came a comprehensive 6-2 victory over Morecambe before a 4-0 scoreline in their semi-final against Bolton Wanderers.
The Bluebirds field a ‘Reserves’ team in the competition, with the rules permitting players of any age to take part.
The two teams were due to meet in the Central League Cup earlier this month, but the match was cancelled following Barrow's withdrawal from the competition.
Supporters are welcome to attend the fixture, which is at the SO Legal Stadium (LA14 5UW), free of charge.
While they are not charging for tickets, Barrow will have collection buckets for the BAFC Foundation located next to the turnstiles for any supporters who wish to donate.
The main and family stands, as well as the Steelworks end, will be open.
If you can’t make it in person be sure to follow live updates on X @ClaretsAcademy, which is where post-match reaction from the manager and playing squad will be shared.
Furthermore, a match report will be published on www.burnleyfootballclub.com after the final whistle.
