Lancashire FA Senior Cup semi-final awaits

Burnley U21s take on Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening, with a place in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup final at stake.

The Clarets have enjoyed a positive run to the semi-finals, beating Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton both away from home.

A Han-Noah Massengo brace and a Joe Westley strike eased Andy Farrell’s team past the Reds in November.

Burnley then beat the Toffees 4-1 in January with Mikey O’Neill, who was a trialist at the time, and Lewis Richardson both scoring first-half doubles.

The young Clarets had a league a match against Coventry City postponed last week, meaning that by the time their trip to the Wham Stadium comes around, it will have been a week since their last outing.

That saw them beat Fleetwood Town and extend their winning run to three games in all competitions, including a 3-1 Central League Cup victory over Accrington.

January addition Tommy McDermott got the better of the League Two outfit that day to score twice, with Tom Tweedy coming off the bench to add a third late on.

The Reds fielded a team with considerable league experience at Burnley Training Centre and could do so again here.

Stanley received a bye in the first round of the LFA Senior Cup, before beating Preston North End 3-2. The winner of this semi-final will face Barrow AFC in the final.

Supporters are welcome to attend, with tickets priced at £5 for adults, over-65s and those aged 12-15. Under-12s can gain access for free with a paying adult.
