Burnley’s U21 side were progressed into the Semi-Finals of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup with a 3-1 win at home against Blackpool in the last-eight.
Jez Davies gave the Clarets the lead just before the half-hour mark, before the Seasiders levelled through Beryly Lubala after the break. Joe Westley though put the Burnley back in front with a clever finish, and substitute Renaldo Torraj sealed the victory 15 minutes from time.
One change was made to the 11 from the 3-2 Premier League Cup victory away at Arsenal last time out with Harry Moss coming into the side in place of Charlie Casper who featured on the bench for the first team again at Norwich City over the weekend.
First-teamers Jordan Gabriel and Beryly Lubala meanwhile were in the Tangerines lineup at the Burnley Training Centre.
First Half
Blackpool had the first real chance of the Quarter-Final tie when experienced figure Lubala drove at the Clarets defence before seeing his effort deflected into the arms of ‘keeper Moss.

Burnley then almost took the lead themselves through Westley, whose shot from Ne-Jai Tucker’s cut-back was flicked onto the post by Seasiders shot stopper Archie Cunningham. He eventually gathered just before it trickled over the line.
Full-back Gabriel forced Moss into a smart save soon after before Davies’ deflected shot from the edge of the box wrongfooted Cunningham and allowed the Clarets to take the lead on 29 minutes following good work down the left from Marcel Lewis.
A quiet 15 minutes followed, and Burnley went in at the break in front.
Second Half
The Seasiders survived an early onslaught of Clarets chances to start the second 45, with Westley seeing a strike saved before Lewis hit the post from the resulting corner and the former then going close once more with a low drive which went just wide.

Burnley were made to pay for those missed opportunities though as Blackpool levelled the game when a cross to the back post found the head of Lubala who rose the highest and planted an effort past Moss.
The visitors weren’t level for long however, with the Clarets hitting the front foot oncemore via Westley who found space to touch home Lewis’ low cross first-time.
Westley had another chance saved moments later with a header back across goal, and it wouldn’t be long before the Clarets put themselves two goals ahead as substitute Torraj worked space on the edge of the area to expertly bend an effort into the far corner.

Burnley would see out any Blackpool forays forward for the remainder of the game to seal their place in the Semi-Finals, with the draw still to be made. Details of which will be confirmed as soon as possible.
The U21s are back in action next Monday – 13th February – when they travel to Birmingham City in the Professional Development League (1.30pm KO).
