Halil Dervişoğlu and Darko Churlinov were both on the scoresheet, with Samuel Bastien also playing 90 minutes, as the U21s came from behind to beat Coventry City 2-1 in Professional Development League action.
Those three senior figures were the only changes to the team that won 3-2 away at Hull City on Monday afternoon. Centre back Dan Sassi, who appeared on the first-team’s bench against Fleetwood Town earlier this week, captained the side.
Elsewhere, both Jack McEvilly & Vernon Masara were named on the bench. Both U16s, defender McEvilly made his U21s bow against Hull, while winger Masara was included in the squad at this level for the first time.
First Half
Dominating the ball from the off, the Clarets had the first chance of the contest at the Burnley Training Centre eight minutes in as Keelan Williams fired wide on the half volley from range.

Dervişoğlu also saw a strike blocked away soon after before Bastien’s low drive was kept out well by Sky Blues goalkeeper Tom Billson.
Both Joe Bauress and Jez Davies then came close to opening the scoring, before a controversial penalty award allowed the visitors to take the lead on 33 minutes, Tom Costello the man to put the spot kick away.
Midfielder Davies had the last chance of the opening 45 minutes, and had looked to be levelling things up when he curled a shot at goal from the edge of the box, but his effort struck the post and bounced behind.
Second Half
Within four minutes of the restart, both Churlinov and Dervişoğlu had gone inches away from grabbing the equaliser, the former beating his marker to race into the box and get a shot away which hit the side netting.
At the other end, in a rare venture forward from the visitors, Evan Eghosa drilled a strike wide, with McEvilly coming on soon after.

Burnley’s leveller would eventually arrive on 66 minutes via Turkish international Dervişoğlu. The striker was quick to react when Sassi’s shot from a corner was deflected into his path, and beat Billson.
10 minutes later, the turnaround was complete when Dervişoğlu capitalised on a defensive error to burst into the area and square for teammate Churlinov to tap home into an empty net.
That was Churlinov’s last action, replaced by Ne-Jai Tucker moments later in a planned change. Masara also came on alongside Tucker, replacing Marcel Lewis.
Before the end of the contest, Dervişoğlu would be denied by Billson and Bastien would rattle the underside of the crossbar. It would though end 2-1 to the Clarets, who reached the 30-point mark for the season in the Northern Section of the PDL.
