Entry for supporters to come and watch the action is free tomorrow (August 22) as Burnley’s U21 side host Queens Park Rangers at the County Ground in Leyland with a 13:00 kick-off.
Clarets season ticket holders will also be able to redeem a complimentary drink of their choice at the Lancashire FA’s headquarters as a token of appreciation from the Club.
The U21s are still searching for their first points of the Professional Development League campaign after an opening day defeat to Charlton Athletic and last Monday’s 2-0 loss away at Reading.
Conceding twice in the opening 21 minutes at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, Burnley were unable to find a route back into the contest despite going close on a number of occasions.
Midfielder Frankie Deane officially joined the Clarets just a few hours before that game following his departure from Scottish champions Celtic earlier this summer. Making his debut off the bench in the second half against the Royals, the 17-year-old is expected to be involved again against QPR.
The two sides haven’t met for close to three years at U23/U21 level, with the Clarets & Hoops facing off at Turf Moor in September 2019 when they played out a goalless draw. A fresh-faced Joe McGlynn started that afternoon, and will be in contention again on Monday.
This term, Rangers – led by the trio of Paul Hall, Andy Impey & Paul Furlong - have thus far played just one league game, taking a point from a 2-2 draw with Peterborough United a fortnight ago.
Falling behind twice, levellers from Alfie Lloyd and Harry Murphy earned them that point against the Posh.
If you can’t make it to Leyland, coverage of tomorrow’s game will come via Twitter - @ClaretsAcademy – while a report will also be published on burnleyfc.com post-match. You can view all of the U21s league fixtures for the 2022/23 season HERE.
