Burnley FC’s U21s side twice came from behind to draw 3-3 with Brentford in Premier League Cup action at Chorley FC’s Victory Park.
The visitors took an early lead through Nathan Young-Coombes, and he added another for the Bees after 40 minutes.
As the Clarets thought they were going into the break behind, Lewis Richardson pulled a goal back before Will Hugill netted the equaliser – and his first goal of the season – just before the half time whistle was blown.
Brentford went back in front on the hour mark through Ashley Hay, but Burnley bounced back once more, through Hugill again, to tie the game and ensure both sides came away with a point.
The Clarets made four changes from the draw against Fleetwood Town last Saturday – 30th September – with Denis Franchi coming in for Charlie Casper, Murray Campbell for Joe Ashton, Basilio Rieno Socoliche coming in for Joe Westley and finally, Jez Davies returning from the start in place of Tom Tweedy.

First Half
It was a frantic start to this cup tie with Darko Churlinov testing Vincent Angelini early on, and Ashley Hay netting but seeing his goal disallowed as he’d ventured into an offside position.
Nathan Young-Coombes gave Brentford the lead soon after, slotting past Franchi into the bottom corner, leaving the Clarets stopper with no chance.
Burnley almost levelled instantly, as Churlinov was involved once more, sliding Hugill in behind the defence, but unfortunately for the home side, the midfielder’s effort was cleared off the line.
It was then the visiting Bees that went close, as Franchi was again called into action, but this time came out on top, getting down low to deny goalscorer Young-Coombes in a one-on-one opportunity.
However, the Brentford striker would not be denied a second time, as the ball broke nicely for him in the area, and he shot low under Franchi and into the back of the net to put the visitors back in front.

The Clarets battled back instantly, and pulled a goal back three minutes later, as Richardson was played through and took his finish very well into the far corner past Angelini.
Burnley must have thought they were heading into the break a goal behind, but Hugill took full advantage of Angelini spilling the ball, as he prodded home the leveller and the teams went into the break all square.
Second Half
Davies had the first chance of the second half as clever work from winger Socoliche found the feet of the midfielder who placed a powerful side footed effort just over the top.
The Clarets were made to rue that missed opportunity, as the Bees went back in front when Hay headed back across Franchi, and his effort dropped into the far bottom corner.
With sixteen minutes to go, it was Hugill who equalised once more – netting his second goal of the game, and the season as a whole – as Socoliche cut the ball back again and this time the midfielder managed to curl a low effort into the back of the net.

That proved to be the last real chance of the game, as the teams shared the points and Burnley moved onto four points after their two Premier League cup fixtures they have played so far.
