Burnley FC U18s side are back in league action on Saturday, as they travel to the Middlewood Training Ground to face Sheffield Wednesday in the Professional Development League (KO 11:30am).
Last time out the U18s side secured three points against Coventry City, in a 5-0 away from home win.
The Clarets were dominant throughout the 90-minutes as they caused constant pressure on the Coventry defence back line.
Vernon Masara bagged himself two goals, Zach Johnson, Jack Rogers and Callum West also got added onto the scoresheet.
This victory leaves the side sat in 5th place, trailing one point behind Hull City U18s.
Saturday’s opponents Sheffield Wednesday, have started the season with five wins, two losses and two draws. As the side come off a 1-0 victory away from home against Hull City, it places the squad 3rd in the league table.
The last time these two sides faced each other it was the Owls who took three points in a 2-1 result.
Despite a tight first 45-minutes with both teams searching to find an opener, Claret Lucas Wane opened the scoring, as Frankie Deane sent the ball straight down the line towards Wiktor Gromek who took a powerful shot on target but was palmed wide by Pierce Charles. However, winger Wane adjusted well and fired the rebound in between the keeper and far post.
Owls Devlan Moses first levelled, netting from inside the area, before Kamil Maciag took advantage of an under hit back pass, with an unfortunate slip from Burnley ‘keeper Lewis Forshaw, to tap home into an empty net what would prove to be the winner.
