Burnley U18s begin their FA Youth Cup campaign at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night, with kick-off at 7pm.
The young Clarets head into this third round match in positive form, having secured back-to-back league victories last week.
That started at Everton’s Finch Farm, where Dylan Morison’s second-half strike earned all three points against the 10-man Toffees.
Tony Philliskirk’s side then made the short trip to Stoke City on Saturday and took a two-goal lead thanks to Luca Scanlon’s close-range finish and Albert Blackie’s fine strike from the edge of the area.
Stoke responded with 73 minutes on the clock but were unable to breach Burnley’s resilient back line again, meaning our scholars moved up to 11th in the U18 Premier League North table.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are currently bottom of those standings, having taken four points from their 10 matches to date.
The Midlanders’ latest outing was a 2-1 home defeat to Everton at the weekend, in which Jake Wilcox netted after the Toffees established a two-goal advantage.
Wolves are managed by Richard Walker, a former defender who made more than 150 EFL appearances with various clubs.
