James Trafford made several strong saves in Burnley's game against Liverpool at Turf Moor on Boxing Day but the home side were unable to take the three points on the day.
Speaking after the game the goalkeeper was pleased with how the team managed to wobble the opposition during the 90 minutes but talked of the importance to taking chances in key moments.
“Yes, obviously we’re down about the result but the performance was very good, especially the second half. We created a good few chances, clear cut chances and we had them wobbled for a bit. But yeah, it’s how the game goes, the game’s on key moments and if we don’t put our chances away, a team with their quality when we’ve committed a lot of men forward, they’re always going to get clear chances and they got the goal and killed the game off.”

On his saves, he added: “I’m pleased about the saves and a few other things, but I’ll assess the game tomorrow with Jelle [Ten Rouwelaar Goalkeeping Coach] and we’ll look to improve on it. There are a few things we need to improve on but yes, we as a team did played really well and it’s tough when we don’t put our chances away. Today Liverpool punished us but they’re a great team themselves.”
High-flying Liverpool came out fighting and put the Clarets under sustained pressure, however at half-time with the scoreline 1-0 to the visitors, Trafford and team used the break to tweak tactics and the goalkeeper believes they gave Jurgen Klopp's side a tough time in the second half.
“Yes, first half we weren’t at our best, but we knew that we were dangerous in transitions, and we just needed to get the final action right the second half and yeah, we’ll get some chances.
“The second half the manager and staff showed us a few things that we need to do to try and create stuff and we did do that in the second half. It’s just unfortunate that we didn’t put our chances away.”

The home side did enjoy chances and Trafford believes there's positives to take from that moving into the next game at Villa Park on Saturday.
“Liverpool are an incredible team and we wobbled them a bit, those times you could tell they were wobbled for moments. We can take a lot of positives from that and go into the game against Aston Villa on Saturday.
“It’s another very good team, they play a little bit differently to Liverpool. We’ll all assess the game tomorrow and come up with a plan to beat Villa.”
