Goalkeeper thrilled with three points on the road

James Trafford said he was 'happy' with his performance following Burnley's 2-1 win over Watford on Good Friday. However, he was keen to emphasise the main thing was coming away with three points and sticking to the plan in Monday's game against the Blades.

“It was a brilliant Friday to be honest. We didn’t start very well and obviously we were a goal down and we probably deserved to be a goal down. The way we reacted through the game, we did it with a lot of ability and a lot of effort. We got the win, and it was really good.”

Watford took the lead in the early stages and asked plenty of questions of the visitors.

“Yes, they were good to be fair, we knew what we were coming up against and we didn’t start brilliantly. That’s full credit to them.

“The game changed though, we scored and then went on to win.”

The 22-year-old made some spectacular saves in the game including a crucial first half save to deny Watford a 2-0 lead.

“I’m happy with the performance but the main thing is that we won. The first save onto the crossbar, it was really good. Luckily, Flem scored straight after it, and it sort of changed the game and even after that we were the better team.”

The win sees the Clarets extend their unbeaten run to 30 league games which Trafford acknowledges as 'brilliant', however his full focus is on the league table.

“Yes, 30 unbeaten, we’ve done it with a whole lot of grace, it’s brilliant. But the main thing is where we are in the table and how close we are to our goal.”

Scott Parker's men have a busy Easter weekend and are back in action on Easter Monday against Sheffield United at Turf Moor and Trafford said whilst taking confidence from today's win, it's important to stick to the plan.

“It’s a big game, I think everyone knows and we’re not naïve, it’s a big game but we’ll stick to our plan. Regardless of what the result was today or whatever is going on, we know exactly what we need to do, and we should produce it.”
