Johann Berg Gudmundsson wants more of the same from the Clarets – with the points to go with it.
Sean Dyche’s side are still looking for a first Premier League win after five games of the new season.
But after following up a goalless draw at West Bromwich Albion by going toe-to-toe with Tottenham in a luckless 1-0 defeat at Turf Moor last Monday night, Gudmundsson is convinced the Clarets are on the right track as they bid to move out of the bottom three.
“The last two games have definitely been much better but now it comes down to putting points on the board,” he said.
“We know that and if we keep playing like we have in the last two games the points will come.
“They always have done for us when we’re at the level we know we need to be at. It’s just keeping on the path we’ve been on in the last two games.”
Gudmundsson isn’t certain to extend his run in the side against Chelsea on Saturday after picking up a slight calf problem.
The Clarets won’t take any chances on the wingman, who has had more than his fair share of muscle injuries over the past couple of seasons.
But whoever starts against the Blues at Turf Moor, Gudmundsson believes they can rise to the challenge of ending Chelsea’s unbeaten away record.
“It’s going to be a tough game, but that’s the Premier League,” added the Iceland international, who spent time in the Academy at Stamford Bridge as a youngster.
“We showed against Spurs we can be tough to beat and probably had better chances than they did in the game.
“They didn’t create a lot apart from that one corner to really speak off.
“We played a really good game against Spurs and the aim is to do the same against Chelsea - but get more points.”
