The smile couldn’t be wiped off Nathan Tella’s face after Burnley turned things around against West Bromwich Albion at Turf Moor on Friday night to kickstart the weekend with three points.
Winger Tella netted his ninth goal of the season with 15 minutes remaining to level things up against the Baggies before seeing Scott Twine come off the bench to score a winner with just three minutes remaining.
And having played his part as the Clarets moved 19 points clear in the automatic promotion spots, Tella explained how hungry he was for the success to continue.
Speaking post-match, he said: “We want to win every game. Sheffield United are keeping the pressure on us and I think they’re making us a better team by doing so, we’re probably making them a better team too.
“We’ll focus on ourselves though because we can’t really start looking at what other teams do. The focus is on us and today was no different, we know we can only impact upon our own games.
“We turned it up in the second half here tonight, and I’m just so happy I was able to score and that we were able to get the win.”
The 23-year-old paid testament to the belief within not only the team, but the Clarets supporters too, throughout the evening.
He added: “I think if you look at most games this season where we’ve been drawing or losing, and still managed to turn it around.
“Today the belief in the team, whether you were starting or a substitute or even a fan, if we’re down you know we’ll dig in and might pop up with a win in the end.
“Every game we’ve played this season the fans have been really noisy and today was no different. We went 1-0 down after seven minutes but it felt like we were 1-0 up because they just carried on backing us.
“They gave us some great support today and it’s why we we’re all so happy we were able to come back.”
Tella also spoke about Twine’s late winner, a marker of the togetherness within the camp, saying: “It’s honestly the best feeling for all of us because we know how hard he’s worked to come back from injury.
“He had a little setback and he’s not played as many games as he’d have liked up to this part, but I felt it was meant for him to come on and be the matchwinner.
“All of us as a team are just so happy for him, we all want to keep doing well and he’ll play his part in that happening for sure.”
