A fitness update from both teams ahead of Saturday

Burnley

Manager Vincent Kompany confirmed striker Lyle Foster will miss this weekend and is likely to be out for a 'period of time' following surgery.

Kompany says Charlie Taylor was 'close' to returning last week whilst Jordan Beyer is 'making progress' in his return to full fitness.

Wingers Luca Koleosho and Nathan Redmond remain long-term absentees for the Clarets with their respective injuries.

Arsenal

Striker Gabriel Jesus could return for the Gunners this weekend after missing the last couple of games with a knee issue, whilst midfielder Emile Smith Rowe was ruled out of last weekend's trip to West Ham and remains a doubt this Saturday.

Right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu hasn't featured since his return from the Asia Cup and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed he didn't want to 'risk him' against the Hammers following a 'niggle' on his return to London.

Portuguese international Fabio Vieira last played in November against the Clarets, where he was sent off, and the midfielder is 'very close' to returning to the side says Arteta following a lengthy spell on the side-lines with a groin issue.

Defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was forced off against Liverpool two weeks ago and it's unconfirmed whether the Ukrainian will return to the squad this weekend.

Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber remain long-term absentees for the Gunners with their respective injuries.
