Charlie Taylor is hoping it’s all smiles on Saturday after experiencing agony and ecstasy on his last Liverpool visit.
Taylor helped the Clarets win 1-0 at Anfield last season as Sean Dyche’s men famously ended the champions’ 68-match unbeaten home run in the Premier League.
The left-back was part of the defensive effort that shut out the Reds as Burnley became the first side since Crystal Palace to win at Liverpool since April, 2017.
But the recurrence of a hamstring injury in the second half meant the start of another spell on the sidelines before Taylor returned to help the Clarets get over the line and secure their Premier League safety.
“It was a special game. It was sort of mixed emotions for me as I got injured during the game but it didn’t really dampen it for me,” recalled Taylor ahead of Saturday’s return to Merseyside, where the Clarets have been unbeaten in three of their last four visits.

“It was a huge win and a huge result at the time and probably one that will go down in our history.
“They had a few big players out injured but take nothing away from our result. It was an incredible result and team performance.
“It proves it can be done and there’s no reason why we can’t repeat that, or at least get something from the game.”
The Clarets go to Liverpool for their first away trip of the new campaign after starting out with a 2-1 home loss to Brighton last Saturday.
Last season’s success at Anfield was one of six away wins during the campaign as Dyche’s side finished just one short of their best tally as a Premier League club.
And Taylor would love a repeat this time around as part of a formula for success.
“If we can repeat how we did last year away from home and improve our home form at the same time, we’ll be set for a good season,” he told Clarets Plus.
“I think that’s the target; repeat how we did away from home last year and try and put a few more wins together at home.
“Hopefully now with the fans behind us that’s doable.”
