Goalkeeper looks ahead to Gunners test

Last weekend's Premier League debutant Max Weiss is relishing the challenge of coming up against the Premier League leaders Arsenal on Monday night, just a week after making his top-flight debut.

The Germany U21 international was named between the sticks last Sunday against Aston Villa by interim boss Mike Jackson and the young shot-stopper is grasping at the opportunity of getting out onto the pitch again and playing his role in a crucial fixture at the Emirates.

Speaking to Clarets+ ahead of the visit to London, Weiss discussed the 'incredible' feeling of starting last weekend, revealed how he found out the news & surprised his parents and the 'surreal' chance of being involved against the title-chasing Gunners.

CHILDHOOD DREAM

"It really is a childhood dream that came true. This is why I made the move over to England and why I signed for Burnley.

"It was incredible to walk out onto the pitch alongside the lads at Turf Moor and start in a Premier League game."

GETTING THE CALL

"I found out on the Saturday afternoon, Jacko (Mike Jackson) rang me around 4pm and told me I would be starting and I was so happy, it was an amazing feeling.

"I picked my parents up from the airport later that day and surprised them when I met them to tell them I was starting and then my partner & friends back home had a watch party together to watch the game."

THE GK UNION

"We have a really good group here, some amazing goalkeepers. I'm the youngest, Martin and Vaclav are both much more experienced and older than me, so I learn a lot from them.

"The coaches too, we have a good team out there on the training ground and we all do our best every single day to help one another."

TAKING ON THE LEAGUE LEADERS

"It is quite a surreal feeling to be honest. It's one of those games that you dream of playing in when you are a kid.

"They are Champions League finalists and top of the Premier League table for a reason, they are one of the best teams in the world, but we are going there with full focus on getting a result and trying to hurt them."
