Joe Worrall was pleased with the character the Clarets showed at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and said the team need to take this momentum into the remaining 11 'crunch games' of the season.

SHOWING BAGS OF CHARACTER

“I thought we were good. It’s a shame that we let the goal in early on in the game, you think it’s going to be another tough day at the office. But again, bags of character, to a man on the pitch I thought we were the better team.

“It’s frustrating it just wouldn’t cross the line for us at times, I thought we were knocking on the door throughout the game. Martin’s not really had a save. It takes for them to have a man sent off for us to really start getting on the ball and playing the stuff we know we can.

“I thought the way we set up today was excellent, tried to avoid them cutting through the middle of us, sent them round the outside, they looked a bit bamboozled with things. I thought we really good. Flem pops up and scores a great header from the set piece. Ward-Prowse put it on a sixpence for him which is his trademark so we’re very thankful for his addition, coming in and helping us.”

LOOKING AHEAD

“We are getting there, you’re just very conscious in the back of your mind that we’ve not got a lot of games to rectify the situation. But if you go off the back of Palace away, Chelsea away, and you say we’re going to get four points – we’d snap your hand off.

“The way we’ve played is testament to the work we’ve been doing behind-the-scenes. I know it might seem frustrating at times, and I feel for the fans, they expect more. But at the same time, I just want to reiterate that we are pushing and trying and doing things the right way. The last two results in the league have shown that.”

PLAYING FOR THE SHIRT

“It should be a given shouldn’t it. We’ve all got to this level as professionals. Saying that, it does take time to build a team and the new boys coming in the building. I’ve played with so many players who have had to acclimatise, coming to England is difficult. But we are where we are and we know that we really have to have a really good go at it the last 10 games.

“Picking up the points on the road that we have is vital. Any team that stays up has to have a good home record and we know that we’ve got real opportunities now that when teams come to Turf Moor, we’ve got to put a show on. We’re calling the fans as well to come and support, get behind us, because these are the crunch games that can make or break seasons. What’s gone is gone and we’re just looking forward to building on these last two games.”
