Emma Siddall believes Burnley Women can use the positivity of last weekend’s late goal at Nottingham Forest as energy ahead of the visit of West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.
Reanna Blades struck 10 minutes from time to earn the Clarets an important point at the City Ground in the context of the league table.
Reflecting on the result, Siddall said: “We showed a lot of fight to keep going and get the point.
“There was potential to get more out of the game too, but it’s still a big achievement to come back against one of the best teams in the league and get a draw away.
“It brought us together massively – the team spirit in the changing room afterwards was something really good to be a part of and it’s continued in the form of positive energy this week.”
West Bromwich Albion are the opponents this weekend, with Rebecca Sawiuk’s side keen to bounce back from the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last home outing.
“It’s always a difficult game, but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” the 18-year-old continued.
“They play fairly direct and like to hold the ball up and play it around. They’re constantly at your neck.
“As a defender it will be a different challenge and one where we can’t switch off.”
This afternoon’s game is at Turf Moor again, with the team relisihing the prospect of running out in front of the Clarets faithful once again.
Siddall added: “You always want to do well there (at Turf Moor) in front of the fans.
“To get that loss was not what we wanted and there’ll be more pressure to turn that around and get the result for the home fans.
“When you are losing and you can hear the fans in the background it gives you a boost and brings that extra 10% out of you, which might not come otherwise if you weren’t being backed by so many people.
“Thank you to you all for coming along today – please bring some atmosphere and energy, because it helps us massively on the pitch!”
