Forward Jay Rodriguez discusses Sunday afternoon’s game at Norwich City and staying focused on the job at hand
Rodriguez on refocusing ahead of the Canaries:
“It [the mood in camp] hasn’t [changed since the midweek victory]. We’re a positive group of lads and I think it was obviously a great feeling to get that win against Everton which we’ll hopefully carry the momentum from.
“We know that’s done now though and we’ve got a big game against Norwich, a tough game, and our focus is straight onto that. We’re a level-headed group of lads that’ll continue to work as hard as we can.
“We can enjoy the moment of the night [against Everton], but the next day our focus was on recovering ready for our next game, it’s a pretty quick turnover.”
Rodriguez on the importance of the fans:
“The atmosphere is massive for us, but they [the fans] have been there all season with us. The lads all really appreciate it, everything helps us.
“In the Everton game, that night was very special the feeling around it. I’m sure everyone watching felt like that and it’s a key point as to why Turf is so difficult to come and play at.
“It helps us, and it makes it hard for the other team.”
Rodriguez on the squad’s experience:
“The lads have got great experience in the team. We can stay calm in tough situations and it’s key for us to focus on what we can achieve and what we can affect.
“We’ve been here many a time, so hopefully that does pay well for us in the end.”
Forward on putting pen-to-paper on new deal
Rodriguez on the squad’s bond:
“Our group is welcoming to anyone that comes in and with them [Wout Weghorst and Maxwel Cornet], it’s just like they’ve been here for years. It’s good to have these quality players and you can see their quality week in week out, how good they really are.
“It’s a great group of lads and one that’s good for me to be a part of. We’ve all worked extremely hard and that’s what it takes in these important games, for everyone to be pulling together in the same direction.”
Rodriguez on the last nine games:
“There’s more to come from every single one of us, we need everyone to be at it and I think we’ll definitely see that.
“Keeping Burnley in the Premier League is massive for everyone in the group of lads that we’ve got. We know how important it is, and it’s down to us. We’ve got to take each game as it comes.”
