Welsh defender Connor Roberts reveals that he dreamt of scoring his goal against Southampton at Turf Moor and reviews a big 2-0 victory over the Saints
Roberts on his goal and last night’s dream:
“To be honest, I’ve done that sort of strike a couple of times for Wales, and the ‘keeper always seems to save it. I hit the bar [with a similar strike] against Brighton earlier this season too.
“I like that one when I cut in on my left foot and luckily today it went in. There’s a funny story behind it though.
“I had a dream that I’d score that exact goal last night so I must be a psychic!”

Roberts on the win:
“It’s huge. A lot of the boys just wanted to get out there tonight and play with a smile on their face, play with a little bit of freedom. I think that we did that, and in large parts, we were very good.
“We played some nice stuff and I think we were well worth the win. We could’ve even scored a couple more goals but it’s a massive three points and we’re still in with a chance.
“All we can do is keep trying to play like that every week and hopefully it’ll be enough come the end of the season.”

Roberts on enjoying his football:
“The freedom comes with expressing yourself and enjoying yourself on the football pitch. When you do that and you get a clap from the crowd, it builds confidence that you’ll carry through to hopefully not just this game, but the games going forward.
“Whoever plays, we’ll continue trying to enjoy ourselves, and hopefully that reaps the rewards in getting us some more points on the board.”
Roberts on a strong Clarets performance:
“I think in spells against West Ham and in larger spells tonight, we’ve shown that we want to let things flow and let our good players do good things.
“In the first half especially, I think that me and Dwight [McNeil] worked well. He got a couple of shots off and I got into a couple of forward areas.
“Tonight, a few of us did some very good things, and we’ve got the win for it. All we can do is keep on going until that final whistle.”
