Defender looks ahead to Saturday's trip to Bournemouth

Connor Roberts hopes the Clarets can carry their confidence and momentum from the last six Sky Bet Championship wins into this weekends Emirates FA Cup meeting with AFC Bournemouth.

Burnley are in magnificent form and have lost just once in their 23 league games, leading the country's goal scoring charts in the top four divisions with 50 goals.

The Welshman made his senior debut for his former club Swansea City in the FA Cup and is hoping he can create more special memories this season with the Clarets in the competition.

Roberts said: "We always want to win every game, our aim is getting through to the next round and then hopefully get another top side to test ourselves against.

"I've been lucky enough to play in some top FA Cup games and it's the competition that I really got my first chance in for Swansea too.

"I made my debut for Swansea in the FA Cup as well, so it's quite a special competition for me. I've kicked on from there since, but I'm looking forward to it and maybe it gives some of the other lads an opportunity who maybe haven't played as much this year.

"It'll be a tough test, but a different one from when we played United. Hopefully we can carry our confidence and momentum from the last few games into this one."

Roberts added: "Bournemouth play similar to us, they like to have the ball, but it'll be interesting for us to see where we're at.

"When we play against better opposition or teams in the Premier League naturally you have to be better and on your own game.

"We can also use the experience from a game like this and carry it into the league matches with us and benefit from it."

The right-back has made 23 appearances this season for Vincent Kompany's men and admits he is 'enjoying' his role within the squad.

“I’m enjoying myself, it’s a slightly different position for me this season, but as long as I can contribute to the team winning games that’s all that matters.”

“We’re enjoying what we’re doing, going into games full of confidence and entertaining the fans.

“I don’t think I have ever played for a team, where we go into every game thinking that we could win and we just need to keep pushing each other in training." Said Roberts.
