Tony Philliskirk's side secured their second win of the season, with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland, in the Northern Premier League.
Dylan Moonan, Sam Unwin and Michael Mellon's goals on a wet and windy afternoon at the Academy of Light sealed all three points for the Clarets.
The Clarets started bright and came close through the lively Unwin, who fired just wide of the post, following a smart counter-attack.
And minutes later, Philliskirk’s side came close to opening the scoring as Unwin turned provider and teed up Kade Ratchford, who struck the ball just wide of the target.
But with 26 minutes gone, the Clarets did open the scoring, with a great team goal involving Brennan, Ratchford and Unwin, before Moonan eventually finished the move off from close range.
Shortly after, the visitors doubled their lead through Unwin, who slotted home coolly from the spot, after Mellon was fouled inside the area.
And just before the break, Philliskirk’s youngsters had a third, as Mellon poked home from close range, after Unwin’s inital strike came back off the post.
Although the Clarets were cruising at the break, they were hungry for more and came out searching for a fourth, as Unwin, who was causing constant problems for the Black Cats’ defence, fired just wide of the post.
However, the hosts did claw themselves back into the game just before the hour mark, as Joel Connolly was adjudged to have given a foul away inside the box, with Sunderland striker Ellis Taylor finishing from the spot.
Smyth-Ferguson then replaced Mellon moments later, and the striker was called straight into action, feeding the ball into the path of Ruairi Behan, whose chipped effort was denied by the Sunderland keeper.
Brennan then came close to adding a fourth, as his fierce free-kick was palmed away.
And as the game entered the final stages the Clarets’ defence stood strong to keep the hosts at bay and secure a second win of the season.
