Burnley fell to their first loss since August on Saturday afternoon, despite the Clarets leading 2-1 at the break through Manuel Benson's brace, a second half brace from Oli McBurnie and strikes from Anel Ahmedhodžić and Jack Robinson sealed the victory for the Blades at Bramall Lane.
Vincent Kompany made three changes from the side that beat Rotherham United 3-2 on Wednesday night, as Josh Cullen replaced the suspended Josh Brownhill in central midfield, with Samuel Bastien and Benson coming in for Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Jay Rodriguez.
First Half
It was a lively start In south Yorkshire, with both teams getting stuck straight into the action, in a mouth-watering lunchtime clash for any neutral.
The Clarets started bright and so did Benson, as the in-form wideman beat Enda Stevens down the right, before breaking forward and curling an effort wide of Wes Foderingham’s goal.
United then came close with 15 minutes on the clock, as Blades forward McBurnie glanced a header from a corner just over the bar from close range.

But it was Kompany’s men who broke the deadlock, as Ian Maatsen’s dangerous cross fell to Benson at the back post, who drilled it towards goal, taking a deflection off United defender Robinson and into the back of the net, to give the visitors the lead.
Just five minutes later, Burnley came close to adding a second, as Taylor Harwood-Bellis fired a header over the crossbar from Anass Zaroury’s corner.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side then gained some momentum and earned themselves a corner, which resulted in the equaliser, as Ndiaye turned the ball home from close range past Muric.
And just as it looked like the sides would head into the break level, Benson latched onto Robinson’s defensive error, before weaving into the area and rifling home past Foderingham to regain Burnley’s lead on the stroke of half time.
Second Half
The hosts came out on the front foot and took just two minutes into the second half to equalise, as McBurnie’s header from just a few yards out found the bottom corner to draw things level once again.

However, the end-to-end encounter wasn’t slowing down anytime soon, as Burnley instantly looked to react, with Cullen’s goal bound effort blocked inside the box.
Then back up the other end, the Blades thought they had taken the lead through Ndiaye, but the Senegalese forward was flagged offside from the corner.
But with just over an hour played, the home side did take the lead, as Robinson was there to convert and hook it past Muric following a goalmouth scramble.
And just four minutes later United had a fourth, as Ahmedhodžić fired home from close range.
Then with 15 minutes left, McBurnie grabbed his second and the Blades' fifth of the afternoon to put the game out of sight.
