Burnley took a point from a 1-1 draw away at Preston North End in a midweek Lancashire derby, extending an unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis had put the Clarets in front 10 minutes in, heading in Josh Brownhill’s corner, but the hosts levelled things up five minutes later through Jordan Storey, and that’s how it remained in West Lancashire come the full-time whistle.
11 days on from his side’s last outing away at West Bromwich Albion, Vincent Kompany made one change with Manuel Benson coming in for Ian Maatsen – who dropped to the bench - as Vitinho moved to left-back.
Summer signings Jordan Beyer, Halil Dervişoğlu & Anass Zaroury were all named in a matchday squad for the first time, starting as substitutes.
Preston meanwhile – who lost 1-0 at home to Birmingham City 10 days ago – also made one change to their starting 11 as former Claret Robbie Brady retained his place.
Boss Ryan Lowe, who served the first of a two-game touchline ban having been sent off against Birmingham, brought captain Daniel Johnson back into the fold with Alan Browne named on the bench.

Before kick-off, the two Clubs and all at Deepdale paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II following the passing of the monarch last Thursday with a minute’s silence and the national anthem sung by Russell Watson. Players and staff from both teams also wore black armbands throughout.
First Half
Benson caused issues for the hosts early on as Burnley threatened, with the opening goal eventually coming 10 minutes in through Harwood-Bellis.
Jay Rodriguez had intercepted a wayward back pass from Ben Whiteman and had a shot blocked behind to earn a corner which Harwood-Bellis rose highest to meet from the delivery of Brownhill.
He headed his first goal for the Club – and a first-ever senior league goal - in off the post & sent the sold out away end of over 5,500 Clarets into delirium in the process.
But five minutes later, North End levelled things up through Storey’s own header. After a flurry of corners, the defender headed over Arijanet Muric who had lost his footing amidst a melee in the six-yard box.
With Preston happy to allow the Clarets a lot of the ball following that equaliser, defending with a low block, Burnley captain Jack Cork took aim from range but saw his shot held by Lilywhites goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
On the half-hour mark, Benson then had a free-kick deflected behind for a corner after Connor Roberts had been felled 25 yards out central to the goal, but Preston managed to clear the resulting set-piece.

Two minutes later, North End’s Troy Parrott was fortunate to avoid a straight red card from referee Peter Bankes, going into a challenge with Josh Cullen with his studs showing and catching the Burnley man.
The Clarets continued to press, trying to get themselves back in front, Vitinho seeing a tame shot held by Woodman having been threaded the ball by Rodriguez at an acute angle inside the area.
Roberts also came close, guiding a header inches wide of the far post with Woodman well beaten from Benson’s low cross. The Welshman was involved again not long after, teeing up Cullen on the edge of the box who drilled a shot at goal which Woodman held onto.
And before the half was out, a well-worked move upfield saw Benson cross for Cullen who connected with the ball on the stretch inside the area but had a defender block his effort behind.
That proved to be the last action of an action-packed first 45 minutes as the two sides headed in level at the interval.
Second Half
Within 45 seconds of the restart, Burnley came close once again, Benson inches away from connecting with Cullen’s cross into the area unmarked. A minute later, the Belgian also drilled a shot the wrong side of the post with Woodman scrambling.
German Beyer came on for his Clarets debut just after the hour-mark, replacing Charlie Taylor who was forced off with a knock. Ex-Burnley man Brady shanked an effort wide on the volley not long after before himself being withdrawn.

Zaroury also got his first taste of EFL action with a little under 20 minutes remaining at Deepdale, introduced from the bench in place of Nathan Tella who moments before had jumped to meet Cork’s deep cross but been unable to connect.
At the other end, Muric comfortably held on to a volley from distance by Preston substitute Browne 10 minutes later in a rare moment where the Kosovo international had to be called into action in the second half.
Maatsen was the final Clarets change of the evening, replacing Benson with six minutes remaining to allow Vitinho to push higher up the pitch as the Clarets searched for a late winner.
A Lilywhites counter attack then caused Burnley a problem, with another substitute in Ched Evans racing forward to cross and Browne heading goalward, but Muric was able to hold onto the effort.
Zaroury and Maatsen combined well down the left wing moments later, the latter’s rapturous delivery well held by Woodman, before the hosts again broke with only a last-ditch block preventing a shot from Manchester United loanee Fernandez troubling Muric.
Three minutes were added on at the end of the second 45 minutes, and Burnley – along with Preston – continued to search for what would’ve been a last-gasp winner, but it wasn’t to come for either side, and the shares were spoiled.
