Alan's notes ahead of tonight's game

Good evening, welcome to Turf Moor for tonight’s game against Norwich City.

I would like to begin by saying a big well done to Vincent, his staff, and his team, after an excellent comeback victory at Sunderland on Saturday.

It was amazing to see the team spirit and togetherness in the second half fightback and come home with all three points.

At today’s fixture we are celebrating Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

Rainbow Laces shows support for all LGBT people in football and beyond, with the aim of ensuring everyone feels welcome. Alongside Stonewall, here at Burnley Football Club, we believe there is no place for discrimination and the campaign demonstrates the power football has to bring people together.

We will be undertaking various activities to support the campaign, including auctioning the players match worn shirts post-game to raise funds for Stonewall.

This week, we were delighted to announce the news that Burnley FC and our official charity Burnley FC in the Community have been chosen to host one of 70 FA Girls’ Emerging Talent Centres to develop women’s football in the region.

Supported by the Premier League and with the aim to provide better accessibility, more inclusivity for young female players and enhance player development, the programme is designed to be a central hub for female players from Burnley and the surrounding areas.

The success of the Lionesses at the Women’s Euros in the summer really catapulted the already growing profile of women’s football and I do hope inspired a whole new generation of young female players to take up the sport. I’m delighted that through the Emerging Talent Centre licence, here in Burnley we can work collaboratively with local grassroots clubs to support the growth of the female game.

Finally, it’s been fantastic to see the new faces settling into the squad. On Thursday Nathan Tella and Vitinho will be joining Burnley FC Women’s Leah Embley and Ellie May at the Clarets Store for a meet and greet with supporters. It’s half term and we hope many of you can join us for what’s set to be a great occasion.
