Burnley are on their travels for the second time this week, taking on Wigan Athletic at the D.W. Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a 15:00 kick-off.
Vincent Kompany’s side are searching for a first Sky Bet Championship victory since the opening day having drawn 3-3 with Blackpool at Turf Moor last weekend.
Progression into Round Three of the Carabao Cup was secured earlier this week however with a 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town thanks to Samuel Bastien’s first competitive goal for the Club. Where to Watch?

Relegated from the second tier amidst financial woes and administration after a points deduction come the end of the 2019/20 campaign, Wigan narrowly avoided the drop in League One the following season before winning promotion as champions last term.
Adapting to life back in the Championship this time around, the Latics have taken the same number of points – six – as the Clarets thus far, but from one less game after a postponement from Coventry City due to their respective pitch issues.
Knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle by Fleetwood Town, Wigan had a free midweek, but last weekend won 1-0 away at Birmingham City. Everton loanee Nathan Broadhead struck a late winner after Joe Bennett had been shown a straight red card 10 minutes in.
The Last Time We Met
Burnley last took on Wigan in a pre-season friendly at the D.W. Stadium back in July 2019 when Jay Rodriguez was amongst the goalscorers in a 2-2 draw.
The pair have only met competitively 23 times over the years, and Saturday’s game will be the first in over eight years with the previous one at Turf Moor in April 2014.
A 2-0 win that afternoon is one that will live long in the memories of all Clarets fans, Ashley Barnes and Michael Kightly on target to seal promotion to the Premier League.
