Following an Easter weekend which saw Burnley promoted to the Premier League and claim all six points on offer across two games, the Clarets now have silverware in their sights, and on Saturday – 15th April – they make the trip to Reading (3pm KO).
Vincent Kompany’s men extended their advantage at the top of the table to 14 points on Monday evening with a 2-0 win on home soil against 2nd-placed Sheffield United.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s second half brace against the Blades at Turf Moor brought the tally down to a maximum of five points required for the Clarets to earn the crown of champions.
The crowning could mathematically take place against the Royals tomorrow afternoon. For that to happen, Sheffield United would need to drop points at home to Cardiff City in the early kick-off and Burnley would have to take all three points at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Reading
The Royals, currently battling the drop in their tenth straight season as a Championship outfit, are newly managerless having parted company with Paul Ince earlier this week.
U21s boss – and former striker – Noel Hunt has taken interim charge of the first-team until the end of the season, with Burnley’s visit to Berkshire marking his first game in the hotseat.
Earlier this month, Reading were deducted six points due to breaches of rules relating to finance, and those six being taken – combined with a poor run of form – see the Berkshire outfit sat in the relegation zone.
22nd and a point off safety at the time of writing, the Royals head into Saturday’s game searching for a first win in eight.
The last time we met
This weekend’s game in Berkshire will be a 45th competitive meeting between the Clarets and the Royals.
Back in October at Turf Moor, maintaining an unbeaten home record this season which still stands to date, Burnley had to complete a a comeback in the second half.
Tom Ince opened the scoring for the visitors before Manuel Benson levelled things up with a low drive on the volley from the edge of the area. Anass Zaroury then netted a header at the back post from Benson’s cross in added time to secure all three points in dramatic circumstances.
The Clarets last win in Berkshire against the Royals was a special one too, coming in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals in 2009. Leading 1-0 from the first leg, goals from Martin Paterson & Steven Thompson fired Burnley to Wembley where they would beat Sheffield United to reach the Premier League for the first time ever.
