Four weeks on from the Sky Bet Championship season taking a mid-season break for the World Cup, the action gets back underway this weekend with Burnley travelling to West London to take on Queens Park Rangers this Sunday (11th December) with a 1pm KO.
The Clarets signed off in style last time out, beating East Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers 3-0 at Turf Moor to remain top of the table heading into the break.
With all three goals coming in a memorable second half, Ashley Barnes was the man of the moment with his brace while Anass Zaroury – who has so far reached the last four of the World Cup with Morocco - also got on the scoresheet.

Queens Park Rangers
The Hoops were promoted to the Premier League alongside Burnley in 2014, and the pair were relegated alongside one another a year later. But as the Clarets made an immediate return to the top flight, the Rs didn’t, and they have remained a second-tier Club since.
Starting well this term under Michael Beale, who was appointed in the summer, Rangers sat top of the table in October 2022 when Beale rejected an offer from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers to tempt him away from QPR.

But afterwards, in the run up to the World Cup break, the Hoops went five without a win. Losing four of those five, they slipped to 6th and are – at the time of writing – now 9th.
And during the four-week break, Beale has departed to take up the reins at Scottish Club Rangers, where he had previously been an assistant. That departure has left a vacancy in the hotseat at Loftus Road which is yet to be filled, so the Rs remain managerless heading into the Clarets visit.
The Last Time we Met
Since the Clarets’ promotion in 2015/16, the two Clubs haven’t come toe-to-toe in any competition.
Accordingly, our previous meeting with the Rs is one that will live long in the memory for all Clarets fans.

Back in May 2016, Sam Vokes’ second half header secured a 1-0 win and the three points which sealed promotion to the Premier League. Scenes of jubilation followed at Turf Moor, and five days later the title would be secured with a win away at Charlton Athletic.
The pair's previous meeting at Loftus Road is nigh on six years to the day come this Sunday's game. In December 2015, they played out a goalless draw in West London in what was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's first game in the QPR dugout.
