Burnley concluded their week-long European pre-season programme on Friday night after being held to a 1-1 draw against La Liga side Real Betis at Estadio Nuevo Colombino.
Jordan Beyer opened the scoring in the 27th minute in Huelva before former Barcelona defender Marc Bartra drew things level just after the break.
Vincent Kompany made eight changes from the side that beat SL Benfica on Tuesday in Lisbon, with just Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Ameen Al-Dakhil and Dara O'Shea keeping their places in the XI.
First Half
After an even start, it was Lyle Foster who got the first shot away of the game but his low driven effort was held comfortably by Rui Silva in goal.
Just over 10 minutes later the Clarets did have their opener though as Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner was flicked on well by Ameen Al-Dakhil for Beyer to steer it home into the bottom corner and give the visitors the lead in Spain.
Betis came close to an equaliser on the half-hour mark when Brazilian Willian Jose struck the ball inches wide of James Trafford’s post.
Moments before the break both sides were then reduced to 10 men after an altercation between Luiz Felipe and Gudmundsson with the pair shown straight red cards.
Second Half
Vincent Kompany turned to his bench at the interval and introduced Charlie Taylor, Jack Cork, Scott Twine, Hjalmar Ekdal and new signing Luca Koleosho for Josh Brownhill, Zeki Amdouni, Dara O’Shea, Anass Zaroury and Al-Dakhil.
However, it took the La Liga side just five minutes into the second half to claw an equaliser as half-time substitute Bartra levelled things up with a free kick from the halfway line catching Trafford out.
Foster looked to regain the lead for Kompany’s side moments later but the South Africa’s well-finished effort was ruled out for offside.
Substitute Koleosho then tried his luck with a fizzing strike from just inside the area but the 18-year-old’s strike sailed just wide of the target.
As the final 15 minutes approached, Trafford was then forced into action to deny Aitor Ruibal’s effort from close range.
Neither side could grasp a winning goal in the friendly and the teams were forced to settle for a draw in a competitive outing in Spain.
