Goalkeeper Nick Pope, who pulled off numerous fantastic saves at the London Stadium to help the Clarets to a 1-1 draw against the Hammers, discussed the result, the squad's togetherness and his key stops.
Pope on the result:
“It’s been a strange week for us, but I thought the lads stuck together and it showed that today.
“Sometimes it’s not easy, the outside noise it brings but it says a lot about this group and the character of the group to get a good point.
“It’s something for us to build on, it’s a point, a foundation and takes us one game with one game of the team above us and it’s a point in the right direction."
Pope on the saves he pulled off:
“It was nice to be involved, West Ham are a top team, doing well in the Europa League.
“I’ve been down here a few times now and they have had their own disruptions, changing in managers, and fighting at the bottom.
“But it was nice to play my part today and help the team go home with a point.”
Pope on Westwood's injury:
“All the boys and everyone at the club wish him the best, I’m sure we will speak to him shortly and see how he is.
“Westy is a big part of how we play and a big character in the dressing room, someone that has been a top player for us over the years.
“We all send our love to him.”
Pope on the team's togetherness:
“As you’ve seen today, everyone is on side and willing to fight for the shirt and pull together.
“Everyone loves playing for the football club and that’s something that can be a big part of these upcoming games.
“The attitude, application, character, these are big things that we’ve got and we’re going to need.”
