Goalkeeper Nick Pope was happy to earn a point away at Aston Villa and spoke on the performance in the Midlands.
Ashley Barnes’ late first-half penalty was cancelled out by Emiliano Buendia’s volley, while Mike Jackson's men battled in the closing stages with ten men after Matt Lowton’s red card to pick up a draw.
And England international Pope, made a string of excellent saves to thwart Villa and discussed the result at full-time.
Pope on the performance:
“I think we’re quite happy in the end, we got a good lead and obviously it was disappointing to give a lead away so early in the second-half, so to have the character to hang in the game and not concede anymore, we created a few chances as well so we’re happy.”
Pope on the battle ahead
“We’ve been in this relegation battle a long time so if we had been told six weeks ago or 12 weeks ago that it’s in our hands on the final day, we are pleased it’s in our hands.
“We’re glad to be above the dotted line and I’m glad to play a good part in that.
“We’ve got a few strains with the injury list that we’ve got, we’ve been unlucky as Lowts had tried to get the ball but he’s stretched too far so it’s an unfortunate one as it means as much to him as it does to us all.”
Pope on Sunday’s game
“It was a big effort, and it’s why you want to be a professional footballer, you want to play in the big games and there’s no bigger than Sunday to stay in the Premier League.”
