Burnley boss Vincent Kompany found plenty of positives before heading home to England after a one all draw with Real Betis in Spain.
Speaking after the match in Huelva the manager said he had lots to be happy about despite some tricky conditions at Nuevo Colombino Stadium :
“The result could have gone our way but we saw some good things. Technically this game was difficult because of the state of the pitch but that was the case for both teams.”
Jordan Beyer opened the scoring for the Clarets inside 27 minutes but both teams had a player sent off just before half time and then Real Betis equalised just after the break :
“It was unfortunate with the sending off of both players. But you’re looking for the effort, you’re looking for a good defensive performance and, on top of that, players who are still willing to attack and I think it was there.”

The match was Burnley’s third match in six days after going to Genk in Belgium and beating Benfica in Portugal. All that on top of a tough week’s training in Lisbon.
“We put ourselves in the situation where we wanted to have a little bit of adversity. I think we played against tough opponents.”
"Top six in Spain. Best team in Portugal – quarter finalists of the Champions League. Add to that the heat, integrating new players and travelling.”
Burnley travel to Germany for their last pre-season test against FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday and then the start of the Premier League season at Turf Moor against Manchester City on Friday 11th August.
“We wanted to put ourselves in a situation where we would build up resilience. I think we got exactly that out of it.”
“All things considered we have to be ready for the first game of the season and we’re still on that way.”
