Aaron Lennon announced his retirement in November last year aged 35 but holds special memories from his time at both Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur.
Lennon arrived at Spurs in 2005 and made more than 350 appearances for the London side during a memorable 10-year spell at White Hart Lane.
After departing Tottenham in 2015 and joining Everton, Lennon played for the Toffees for three years before signing for the Clarets, where he featured over 70 times across two separate spells with a season in Turkey in-between.
Since retiring last year, Lennon revealed he has been enjoying time away from the game with his family as well as taking his coaching badges.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s clash, with the full in-depth interview available in the ‘TURF’ matchday programme, the 36-year-old said: “Personally I've had a lot of holidays with family. I got a lot of family time in, which has been really nice but I've also been doing my coaching badges and working on a mental health platform.
“I still miss the playing side, I’m not going to lie. I miss playing and I miss the training ground, the banter with the lads, I do miss it. I’m one of them players. I enjoy watching football though, I’m glad the season has started again."
Lennon was impressed with the Clarets' performance against Manchester City on the opening night despite suffering defeat and believes everyone in the squad will have a part to play across the season.
The former England winger said: “The first game against City was tough but look, they did well. City can do that to anybody. I’ve only seen the highlights from the last game against Villa.
"Burnley were amazing and did brilliantly last season with the way they played. The manager has come in and brought in a brand-new squad.
"It’s a big challenge this season, it’s tough for any of the teams that come up. I will definitely keep a close eye on them."
The Leeds-born wideman added: “I think the experienced lads will be hugely important for Burnley this season. They are great characters and players and they will be so important for these young lads, the foreign lads coming over.
"They are so important to help bed them in. Their experience is going to be important for younger lads this season."
Looking ahead to this weekend, Lennon is expecting an end-to-end clash at Turf Moor and goals from both sides.
“I’m expecting an exciting game with a lot of goals,” added Lennon. “I think both teams will score, maybe a draw. It will be a tough game for Burnley because Spurs have started so well but I’m going for a score draw.”
