Boss looks ahead to Fulham fixture on Saturday

Scott Parker spoke to the media on Thursday afternoon, previewing Saturday's tea-time kick-off against Fulham in the Premier League.

The Clarets gaffer discussed a whole host of topics, here's what he had to say ...

PROGRESS BEING MADE

"I might sound like a broken record and I’m weak in my position when I say it after recent results, but I am seeing progress every day in this young team.

"Progress on the training ground, and progress in the way we’re adapting to – and performing – in the Premier League. Our display against Newcastle last weekend showed that.

"The cold hard reality is that on any journey, in any season, in any lifetime, there's bumps and adversity along the way. Maybe the modern day world doesn't allow you to embrace that adversity. Everyone wants a quick fix these days, but that's not the reality, whether you like it or not.

"Sometimes you need to go through adversity, but with a commitment, hard work and passion - and a hard head at times - you can come out the other side.

"This group accepts the times when we've fallen short, but we face up to it, we train hard, and we go again. That's what gives you the chance to keep progressing."

FAN POWER

"The fans will be massive for us this weekend, like they always are every time we run out at Turf Moor.

"The fans are desperate for us to get a positive result - and we're equally as desperate.

"We're committed more than ever to come into the stadium and put smiles on faces with our performances.

"We need their full backing. We need them to get right behind this young group and make this a really difficult place to come - and I'm hoping that will be the case this weekend."

THE COTTAGERS

"They're a good side - a side who haven been together a long time under a top coach in Marco (Silva), who has done an incredible job.

"Every Premier League game you do into in this division is a tough one, and this one this weekend will be no different.

"We want to try and pose our own problems, we've got a game plan to execute, and that's what we're planning to do."

BENCHMARK PERFORMANCES

"Newcastle was arguably our best performance of the season. I took massive encouragement from the whole game.

"We didn’t wilt one bit despite going down to ten men, and that tells me a lot about this group – the sacrifices they make for each other and the desire they’ve got to get us out of this run of results.

"The levels we performed at last weekend are now the benchmark."

EYEING HOME COMFORTS

"We're at home, and it's a game we want to win.

"A late kick-off, under the lights, in front of our own supporters - it's a match to really look forward to.

"It's a game we'll look to execute some of the really good things we've done this year, and polish up on some of those things that have probably let us down in certain moments - and hopefully put on a strong performance in front of our own fans to get a positive result."

TRIO RULED OUT

"We've no new injuries.

"It'll be a similar squad to the one that went to Newcastle last weekend.

"We've got a couple of suspensions (Pires and Walker) and Hannibal is serving his ban, but other than that, we're where we were ahead of Newcastle - the boys are looking forward to it."
