Head Coach Scott Parker applauded his side’s ‘bravery, courage and desire’ as the Clarets ensured all three points returned to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon.
Jaidon Anthony’s first-half goal proved to be the difference at Ashton Gate in a tight contest and despite chances to add to the scoresheet, Bristol City couldn’t find a way past the resilient Clarets defence.
Speaking post-match in Bristol he said: “I thought we started the game pretty well. Obviously coming to a tough place and the weather conditions were really poor today.
“We eased our way into it and then got our goal, which was well deserved.
“I thought we started the second-half slow, but then had a 15/20 minute spell looking like the team that we want to be.
“We looked dangerous, we looked a threat, and I know we missed a couple of good chances, but it’s now about carrying that through with us.”
Parker added: “If you score the couple of chances we created in the second-half, it probably makes the game a little bit easier for us.
“The last 15/20 minutes we were camped in and this happens in football, when momentum swings.
“There was a feeling of relief when the full-time whistle went, with the pressure they were putting on, the weather and that urge to hold on.
“But I was proud with the bravery, courage and desire the lads showed to ensure another clean sheet and bring home the three points.”
