Despite Burnley being denied victory against West Brom on Thursday night, with Jaidon Anthony’s goal controversially ruled out, Head Coach Scott Parker was pleased with his side’s positive reaction after Sunday’s defeat.
The Clarets created plenty of opportunities and showed attacking threat from the start, but had to be content with one point and another clean sheet.
Speaking post-match at the Hawthorns, Parker said: “I asked for a reaction from the team after a disappointing result on Sunday and we got every bit of that tonight.
“In terms of the intent in which we attacked, there was massive improvement from where we’ve been and defensively we were very solid again. It’s another clean sheet for us.
“We hit the post, we missed a big chance with Jeremy one-on-one as well, so overall I’m really pleased.
“I’m really encouraged from the performance, the reaction and these boys have been incredible and we keep pushing on.”
The Clarets looked to have taken the lead in the second-half, when Anthony headed home Lucas Pires’ cross at the back-post, but referee Tom Nield ruled out the goal for a ‘foul’ in the build-up.
Parker expressed his frustration with the decision: “It’s disappointing really. With all the people watching the game tonight, there’s probably only one man that didn’t think it was a goal and that was the ref. It was a clear goal, wasn’t it?
“It’s really disappointing for us, but overall I’m really pleased with the team in terms of our general performance and we move on to Swansea now.”
