Scott Parker expressed his delight following Saturday's 5-0 victory over Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon and applauded his side for their 'deadliness & clinical edge' against the Bluebirds.
The Clarets were ahead through an own goal in the 9th minute, before Luca Koleosho doubled Burnley's lead. Josh Brownhill added a third early in the second-half with substitutes Zeki Amdouni and Johann Berg Gudmundsson getting in on the act in the closing stages.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Parker said: “I’m absolutely delighted, all round really but with the five goals too. I came here today wanting to get a positive result so to get five goals, a clean sheet and a positive performance too.
"Look, they (Cardiff) caused us problems, certainly early on. They got a real foothold in the game and we struggled to get a real control for a few reasons.
“But I was very pleased with how we dealt with that issue and as the game went on we showed our dominance, having fixed things a little bit at half time.
“I know five goals have gone in, but I’m probably more pleased with the way the team dealt with the start and how we nudged and kept jabbing our way to a point where we can execute and go and win the game.
“The level of performance, the deadliness and the clinical edge of this team is there for everyone to see, so we’re really positive and upbeat and we need to keep rolling with that.”
After scoring nine goals in the first two games, Parker explained: “Managing expectation is a part of it. But having said that, I want us to be positive, I want us to be bright about the future because we’ve had two great results.
“I’ve been in this division twice now, I understand the demands of it and I keep saying it, there will be bumps in the road. But I don’t want to lose sight of what we’ve done in these opening two games."
Parker has now seen his side secure two wins from two games in the start to the 2024/25 campaign and the Clarets boss acknowledges the importance of 'getting back to winning ways'.
The Head Coach said: “I’m speaking with experience when I talk about last year where Burnley were because I’ve been in that position. Sometimes you don’t win many games and psychologically it can be a bit of a blow on the team and the squad.
“The most important thing here is getting back to winning ways and building a winning culture.
“Two wins out of two, and from two tough fixtures as well, because Luton away from home in the first game of the season, where I thought we were absolutely superb. Today posed some different problems but we get the job done with an emphatic win in that sense.”
