Head Coach Scott Parker was delighted to see his team take all three points with a late win over Portsmouth and believes the 'perseverance and quality came through' for his side to guide their way to victory.
Pompey were ahead at the break through Callum Lang's strike before substitute Jeremy Sarmiento levelled the scores just after coming on, with Josh Brownhill then rifling home the winner in stoppage time.
Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Parker acknowledged the 'stuttered' first half, but was pleased with the impressive response his side showed in the second to go onto win.
The Burnley boss said: “First and foremost we came into the game wanting to get three points and we’ve managed to do that today. It's a massive win for us.
“It was a resilient performance I thought. I think it’s fair to say in the first half we stuttered around it a little bit and we needed to address some things at half-time.
“But in the second half we showed our dominance and were probably well worthy of the three points. It was a tough game though, we were under no illusions how tough it would be because they’ve gone to places already this season and got results.
"We knew the level of game it would be and how tough they would make it and they proved every bit of it. However, in the end I think our perseverance and our quality came through."
Sarmiento scored less than two minutes after being introduced against Pompey and Parker was more than impressed with the Ecuadorian's impact and the other substitutes that came into the game.
“I’d like to say that was the information I gave him (Sarmiento) but it certainly wasn’t. It pleases me at that moment you can make changes and boys that have been sitting on the bench for 60 minutes need to be prepared to come into the arena.
"They need to get up to the tempo of the game and have an impact. I thought every one of the subs did that, but Jeremy obviously comes off the bench and scores us a goal.
“To a man the boys that came into this game had a willingness to go and execute and try and get the team over the line. They helped us immensely with that.”
Winger pleased with important equaliser
Captain Brownhill then stood up and fired home the winner deep into stoppage time and the Clarets boss hailed his skipper: "He gives you every bit of that as a captain. He understands and he’s got the nous around the football pitch and the nous of this division.
“That’s what pleased me the most, the resilience of this team. Let’s get this right, at times there was a frustration in the stadium and there was a frustration amongst us all, the players and myself included.
“There was an edginess to us and in certain moments you can see teams slowly wilt away a little bit and probably lose a bit of belief. But not for one second did we do that and that’s what impressed me the most.
“I constantly felt it was a group of men trying their hardest and trying to win the game for us. Browny tips it off at the end, to be in and around it, take the shot and score, which was very pleasing.”
Burnley boss Scott Parker has been nominated for September’s Sky Bet Championship Manager Of The Month award.
