Dara O'Shea was feeling good following Burnley's win over Brentford on Saturday, with the three points sending him off on international duty with a smile on his face.
Speaking post-match, the 25-year-old said the win offers a much-needed confidence boost to the squad.
“I’m feeling really good. The mood in the changing room is brilliant. We’ve been missing that feeling, you know we’ve been close in recent games, we’ve been playing well so today to get three points is big for us. It’s that bit of a confidence boost to go into the end of the season. Then obviously with the break now it’s nice to finish on a win.”
There were touch and go moments throughout the game as the Clarets went 2-0 up before the Bees grabbed a goal back and nearly equalised in added time. However, Vincent Kompany's side seemed bright throughout.
“Yes, that’s how it felt on the pitch. Obviously, it helped getting that penalty early on and the sending off, it kind of changes the game slightly too. But we played the way we wanted to play today which is really important for us. We worked a lot in the week on being good attacking and then whilst we’re attacking having that good defence, keeping the pressure applied and I thought we did that really well today.”

Despite positive performances in several games this season the Clarets have found points hard to come by, how important has O'Shea found staying focussed and maintaining the belief that points will come?
“I think from the start of the season the gaffer’s been big on that, on emphasising that. We want to play the way we want to play, and we know the way we want to play will get results and we’ve been unlucky at times. Today we haven’t been unlucky, we’ve probably been lucky at times too and we got the three points which is massive so that perseverance is big for us.”
Nine additional minutes with a VAR check resulted in nervy closing stages. However, the defender was pleased with how the squad saw out the game.
“Look that’s an important time you know, they’ve got a bit of momentum in the game, and we’ve got to do our best to keep the ball out the back of the net. I thought Aro was fantastic today and I thought everyone was. Really important the lads who come into the team and come off the bench today to make a positive impact in the game and I think they did.”

The international break sees O'Shea join up with his Republic of Ireland teammates and he's looking forward to heading off on the back of a vital three points.
“I’m buzzing now after getting three points. It’s nice to walk into a different set up on a positive. Two good games, we’ve got Belgium and Switzerland, so we’ll be playing against Zeki. But yes, first and foremost I’m just buzzing that we won today, I’m going to enjoy tonight and then head away.”
There will still be some familiar faces whilst on duty though including teammate Josh Cullen...
“Exactly, I've got some familiar faces around there so yes it’s always nice to link up with the lads.”
