Singer-songwriter makes surprise appearance at Turf Moor

Natasha Bedingfield joined Burnley Football Club players for a surprise performance of Unwritten at their final game of the season after the team’s promotion celebrations recently went viral online.

Bedingfield’s 2004 pop classic has become the soundtrack to the team’s promotion winning campaign having been played and sung to by the players in the dressing room after each victory.

Footage of this was captured by Sky Sports after the Clarets beat Sheffield United 2-1 to secure promotion back to the Premier League last week, going viral and leading to the singer-songwriter congratulating the Clarets on Instagram.

Burnley finished their season against Millwall at Turf Moor and Bedingfield surprised the players in the dressing room for one final rendition of Unwritten to celebrate a record-breaking promotion season and enjoyed a glass of Burnley’s famous ‘Bene 'n' hot’ with Head Coach Scott Parker.

She also took to the Turf Moor pitch to perform with the team during a lap of honour in front of home fans after they beat Millwall 3-1.

Bedingfield said: "Surprising the Burnley players was so much fun, seeing their reactions was priceless! I’m incredibly grateful that Unwritten has meant so much to them, it’s an incredible story to be a part of. Congratulations to the team on such a huge moment, they deserve every bit of it!”

Burnley captain Josh Brownhill said: “What a way to end the season. We’ve been singing Unwritten all year so to have Natasha come and join us in person was a real surprise for the lads and we absolutely loved it. I think it’s safe to say Natasha is an honorary Claret now.”
