Dwight McNeil, speaking on the four year anniversary of making his Premier League debut, discusses Sunday’s opposition, having an experienced group, and the task ahead.
McNeil on Tottenham Hotspur:
“We know that they’re a good side with the way that they play, the manager that they’ve got and some of the individuals there.
“They’ve got world class players and we’re going to have to be right at it on Sunday. We’ve got to focus on ourselves, we know what we’ve got to do to go and win the game.”
McNeil on beating Spurs at Turf Moor in the reverse fixture:
“At that point in time for us, it was a massive win, but we know that it’s going to be a completely different game being at their home ground.
“We know what they’re fighting for as well as what we’re fighting for, but we’re ready for a challenge.”

McNeil on the task:
“There’s pressure. We know what’s on the line and what’s at stake, but we’ve just got to take every day as it comes in training and then when the games come around, we’ll be ready for when the whistle goes.
“This is the time more than ever to show that we are capable of staying in the Premier League. We know the job that needs to be done and we just need to do it now.”
McNeil on experience within the Clarets ranks:
“We’ve got such an experienced group and we’ve been in this position before. There are quite a few experienced voices in the dressing room – the skipper [Ben Mee], Tarky [James Tarkowski], Bardo [Phil Bardsley].
“It’s good to have people like that so close to you because they help the team out and help you out individually as well. We’ve got a good set of lads here, everyone’s in it together.”

McNeil on improvements:
“Before the last game [Aston Villa], I thought that we performed fantastically in the four before that. I think that getting 10 points from four games says a lot about the group of lads and the character that we’ve got.”
McNeil on it being four years to the day since his Premier League debut:
“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far. It’s gone so fast since making my first appearance. I appreciate everyone involved at the club for giving me opportunities.
“I’ve been in and around the first-team environment for four years now, and I’ve really enjoyed myself. I feel I’ve matured a lot off the pitch with the players I’ve had around me during that time.”
