Clinical Clarets claim all three points in Swansea

First-half goals from Josh Brownhill and Jaidon Anthony saw the Clarets secure a deserved three points in a dominant display at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Brownhill swept home the opener in the 3rd minute, before Anthony smashed home the second of the game midway through the first-half, with the win seeing Burnley extend their unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship to 25 games.

Head Coach Scott Parker named just one change from Tuesday’s draw with West Bromwich Albion, as Josh Laurent replaced Hannibal in midfield.

The Clarets started brightly and with their first chance of the game broke the deadlock, as Brownhill turned home from close range from Zian Flemming’s low cross with only three minutes played.

As the game then reached the midway mark of the first-half, in similar fashion to the first goal, Burnley added their second goal of the afternoon with their second chance.

Marcus Edwards weaved his way into the area, before teeing up Brownhill, whose ball into the box fell kindly to Anthony to slam home into the roof of the net, after Flemming saw his initial effort blocked.

Burnley were dominating, with the hosts barely laying a glove on the visitors and Parker’s side could have been three up on the half-hour mark, but Maxime Esteve’s header sailed just over the target from Lucas Pires’ corner.

The lively Edwards forced former Claret Lawrence Vigouroux into action to palm away his strike before half-time, which saw the away side go into the break two goals ahead.

Despite controlling the majority of possession and enjoying a lot of the ball, the Clarets were unable to test Vigouroux in the first 20 minutes of the second-half.

Parker then turned to his bench and made a double switch, as Hannibal and Lyle Foster replaced Flemming and Edwards.

Swansea’s first real chance on goal came shortly after that substitution, as Ronald guided a header wide of the post from an unmarked position inside the area.

The final change of the game saw Ashley Barnes come on for Anthony in the final minute, with referee Oliver Langford blowing the full-time whistle shortly after, which saw Burnley take away all three points.
