The Clarets began their festive fixture schedule with a big three points and a clean sheet on the road as Vincent Kompany's side ran out 2-0 winners at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon.
Burnley opened the scoring two minutes into the second half when Wilson Odobert curled home a fantastic strike from outside the area before Sander Berge drilled in the second of the afternoon 20 minutes later to seal the win in West London.
The victory sees Fulham's three-match winning streak at home ended as the Clarets now gear up for a Boxing Day clash at home to Liverpool.
Kompany made two changes from the side that featured last weekend as Charlie Taylor returned from suspension and came in for Hannes Delcroix whilst Lyle Foster was handed his first start since coming back to the squad replacing Jay Rodriguez.
First Half
After an even opening 10 minutes in London, Trafford was forced into action to push Wilson’s drilled effort wide for a corner before then making another fine stop minutes later to deny Muniz’s close-range strike.
Fulham were enjoying plenty of possession around the halfway mark of the first half and Pereira was next up to try break the deadlock as the midfielder unleashed an effort which fizzed just wide of the post from just outside the area.
One side of Craven Cottage then thought the hosts had taken the lead with 10 minutes to play until the break when Muniz rifled an effort from the right of the area towards the target rippling the side netting before rolling out of play.
Trafford was then forced into action once again making a fantastic stop to keep out Wilson’s stinging strike.
Foster opened up a chance of his own for Burnley after linking up with Odobert as the young French winger threaded a through ball in for the onrushing Foster but the South African’s strike was denied by Adarabioyo’s block.
Burnley came under late pressure in stoppage time of the first half, Beyer made an excellent headed clearance to deny a Fulham goal before Muniz’s acrobatic effort was then struck wide of the goal.
Second Half
Following a fairly dominant Fulham first half, the Clarets got off to a dream start in the second as Odobert played a lovely one-two with Foster on the edge of the box before curling home the receiving ball into the far corner past Leno to give the visitors the lead.
After an even contest over the next 20 minutes with no real clear-cut chances, Burnley doubled their lead in fine style when Berge drove forward through the heart of Fulham’s midfield before firing into the bottom corner from outside the area to double Kompany’s side’s lead.
10 minutes later, Berge and the Clarets came close to adding a second of the afternoon but his well-hit strike sailed just over the crossbar.
A solid and resilient defensive display saw the visitors go on and secure a deserved clean sheet in London.
